Tulane transfer Jordan Walker has committed to UAB, he told College Hoops Today on Friday.
The 5-11 point guard averaged 13 points and 4.3 assists last season. Since he is a two-time transfer, Walker — who recently graduated from Tulane — will need an NCAA waiver to play immediately next season.
“I loved the campus and the players that I met with,” Walker said on Friday. “It felt like a family there.”
Walker is one of five impact transfers that UAB has added this offseason under Andy Kennedy. The Blazers have also secured commitments from Jamal Johnson (Auburn), Justin Brown (South Florida), K.J. Buffen (Ole Miss), and Tyreke Locure (South Alabama). All four players averaged 8.1 points or more last season.
“I love the way that Coach Kennedy allows his guards to play,” Walker added. “We’ve added other high-major transfers. That can help you win Conference-USA. Winning is extremely important to me. I want to win.”
UAB finished 22-7 last season in its first year under Andy Kennedy.
