Virginia doesn’t return a double figure scorer from last season’s team that finished 18-7 and won the ACC regular season title.
Tony Bennett is well aware.
“The newness of this team is real,” Bennett said earlier this week on the College Hoops Today Podcast. “Guys that don’t have a ton of experience are going to have to grow up fast.”
Only two of the Cavaliers’ top eight scorers from last season — Kihei Clark and Reece Beekman — are back. A pair of transfers — Jayden Gardner (East Carolina) and Armaan Franklin (Indiana) — are going to have to consistently produce if this team is going to again finish at the top of the ACC.
Virginia is currently ranked 20th in the ROTHSTEIN 45.
