Virginia tries to shake up the ACC against Duke
Is it a colossal showdown today at Cameron Indoor Stadium or a coronation for the Blue Devils? We’ll find out by the middle of the afternoon. The Cavaliers are the quietest 25-3 team in the history of the ACC and it will stay that way unless they’re able to upset Duke today in Durham. Virginia currently trails the Blue Devils by a game in the ACC standings and has had a major hand in elevating this entire conference thanks the success that it’s had in its first season under Ryan Odom.
Kansas visits Arizona
For the first time since the 2008-09 season, the Jayhawks will square off with the Wildcats in Tucson. They shouldn’t expect a friendly welcome. Arizona lost to Kansas a few weeks ago in Lawrence and the Wildcats will be ripe for payback. Arizona is also expected to get freshman Koa Peat (13.8 points, 5.4 rebounds) back in the lineup after he’s missed multiple games due to a leg injury. Tommy Lloyd’s squad is just two wins away from winning an outright Big 12 regular season title for the first time since joining the conference.
St. John’s gets a chance to respond against Villanova
And how the Red Storm respond will say a lot about this team’s resolve entering the most important month of year. St. John’s didn’t just lose its last game against UConn — it was dominated from tip to finish in a fashion that we hadn’t seen this program endure in several years. The 32-point defeat however, does not define an entire season. As of today, a win by the Red Storm tonight against the Wildcats at MSG would count as a Quad 1 win, which would help boost this team’s potential seeding on Selection Sunday.
