Who’s hungry for college basketball?
Here’s today’s installment of “The Breakfast Buffet”, a daily column that can be found here every single morning getting you caught up to date on everything that’s happened from the day/night before and everything that’s going to happen in the next 24 hours.

Things To Sample
Killyan Toure benefited from Tamin Lipsey’s injury
Pat Riley once said that “injury is opportunity”. He was right. With Lipsey out of Iowa State’s lineup for multiple games over the past few weeks, it allowed Toure the chance to blossom. A stalwart defender, the 6-3 freshman also averaged 17.3 points in the three games that Lipsey was sidelined and he also tallied 13 points and five rebounds in Saturday’s massive win at Purdue alongside Lipsey as a starter in the Cyclones’ backcourt. Remember the name.
Hannes Steinbach is ridiculous
Washington’s freshman big man isn’t getting the same attention as Duke’s Cameron Boozer and North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson, but he may not be far behind. The 6-10 Steinbach tallied a combined 53 points and 26 rebounds in two games last week against UCLA and USC and shot a whopping 18-24 from the field during that span. This kid is a ridiculous talent. Don’t be shocked if Steinbach drags the Huskies to the 2026 NCAA Tournament — he’s that good.
Shaheen Holloway deserves credit for the job he’s doing at Seton Hall
The guy who’s doing the best power conference coaching job that enough people are talking about resides in South Orange, New Jersey. Many people wrote off the Pirates after last season’s 7-25 campaign, but Holloway has rallied his alma mater to a 9-1 start, which has included wins over both NC State and Kansas State. Seton Hall didn’t make any major splashes via the transfer portal, but Holloway has built a roster that mirrors his hard-nosed personality and it’s paying off in the won-loss column. The Pirates have been a major shining light in what has been a disappointing start for the Big East.
On The Side
- Duke is in position to have two different players — Cooper Flagg and Cameron Boozer — win National Player of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons. The last time that happened? 2001 and 2002 when Shane Battier and Jay Williams earned the award for the Blue Devils.
- Michigan’s last four victories have come by a combined 151 points. The Wolverines aren’t just beating teams — they’re eviscerating teams.
- Only one of Kentucky’s top five scorers — Collin Chandler — is shooting better than 34.2 percent from three-point range.
- Arkansas’ Darius Acuff has 23 assists and just six turnovers in his last three games.
- Don’t sleep on Notre Dame. The Irish picked up a key win last week over Missouri in the ACC/SEC Challenge and then went on the road to beat TCU on Friday night in Fort Worth. This is an improved team in its third season under Micah Shrewsberry.
