Could Fred Hoiberg eventually make a return to Hilton Coliseum as the head coach of Nebraska?
Don’t rule it out of the realm of possibility.
“It’s certainly something that we’d be open to,” Iowa State coach T.J. Otzelberger said Monday on the College Hoops Today Podcast when he was asked about starting a home-and-home series with the Cornhuskers. “It’s something at this point that Fred and I haven’t discussed. When we look to schedule, we want to have those competitive games. We want to have rivalry games with teams that are local so the travel isn’t as far for our fans. I know Fred has a lot on his plate as we do right now. The schedule for next season right now is set, but that’s something that we’d be open to moving forward.”
Otzelberger worked under Hoiberg as an assistant at Iowa State from 2010-13. He then became the head coach at South Dakota State and UNLV prior to taking his current post with the Cyclones.
Hoiberg is entering his third season as the head coach of Nebraska.
