Syracuse transfer Quincy Guerrier has committed to Oregon, he told College Hoops Today on Thursday.
The 6-7 forward averaged 13.7 points and 8.4 rebounds last season for the Orange and was widely considered to be one of the top transfers available. Guerrier initially considered the Ducks out of high school before he committed to Syracuse.
“I had a really good relationship with them already,” Guerrier said of Oregon. “They were the first school to offer me. I already had that chemistry in place with their coaching staff.”
With the losses of both Chris Duarte and Eugene Omoruyi, Guerrier is in position to instantly play a major role for the Ducks.
“I want to showcase my full potential,” Guerrier said. “I have complete confidence that Coach (Dana) Altman is going to help me get where I want to go.”
Oregon returns several key players from last season’s team that reached the Sweet 16, headlined by veteran point guard Will Richardson as well as Eric Williams and Franck Kepnang. 6-11 big man N’Faly Dante is also expected to return after only appearing in six games last season due to a knee injury. The Ducks will also add a five-star freshman in Nate Bittle.
Oregon is currently 12th in the ROTHSTEIN 45.
