Oklahoma’s Lon Kruger is retiring, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation.
An official announcement is expected soon.
Kruger was planning to meet with the Sooners’ team on Thursday afternoon and inform them of the news.
He was the head coach of six Division 1 programs — Texas Pan-American, Kansas State, Florida, Illinois, UNLV, and Oklahoma — during his storied career.
Kruger led Florida to the Final Four in 1994 and Oklahoma to the Final Four in 2016.
His son Kevin, was recently named the head coach at UNLV.
