Oklahoma is closing in on hiring Loyola Chicago’s Porter Moser as its next head basketball coach, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation.
The deal is not done, but the two sides are “working in the direction of a marriage”, a source said.
Moser would replace Lon Kruger, who retired last week.
The 52-year old Moser has never been a power conference head coach, but has taken Loyola Chicago to incredible heights, including a Final Four run in 2018 and a trip to the Sweet 16 this season.
Over the past four seasons, Moser has a combined overall record of 99-36.
The Chicago Sun Times first reported the potential development with Moser and Oklahoma.
