Marquette will hire Texas’ Shaka Smart as its next head basketball coach, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation.
An official announcement is expected soon.
A Wisconsin native, Smart replaces Steve Wojciechowski, who was fired last season.
Smart was the head coach in Austin since 2015 and prior to that, the head coach of VCU.
