Marquette’s Dawson Garcia was quietly one of the more productive freshmen in the country last season.
His new coach wasn’t surprised.
“The one thing that’s instantly stuck out to me about Dawson is his work ethic,” Marquette coach Shaka Smart said of the 6-11 Garcia — who averaged 13 points and 6.6 rebounds last season as a freshman — on Monday’s edition of the College Hoops Today Podcast. “He loves to work. If you don’t know where he is, there’s a good chance that he’s in the gym.”
Garcia is currently going through the NBA Draft process, but has maintained his college eligibility. The NCAA withdrawal deadline for underclassmen is July 7th.
Marquette finished 13-14 last season.
