The SEC is discussing going from 18 to 20 league games during the 2025-26 college basketball season, multiple sources told College Hoops Today.
There is no timetable on an official announcement.
While discussions have taken place, one source stressed to College Hoops Today that it was “too early” to tell if the SEC would stay at 18 league games or shift to 20 a year from now.
The SEC — which will expand to 16 teams during the 2024-25 season with the additions of both Oklahoma and Texas —- currently plays 18 conference games and is the only power conference that does not play 20 times during league play as the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, and Big East all play 20 conference games.
