Monday’s NCAA Tournament Previews

The 2021 NCAA Tournament is finally here!

Check below for a breakdown of today’s games:

Gonzaga/Oklahoma
The West Region should be renamed “The Gonzaga Invitational”. Oklahoma feels like the next victim. I’ll be surprised if the Sooners can stay in this game for 40 minutes.

Creighton/Ohio
How will Ohio respond after its emotional victory over Virginia? The Bobcats’ can’t be resting on their laurels if they want to make the Sweet 16. Keep an eye on a terrific point guard matchup between Marcus Zegarowski and Jason Preston.

Kansas/USC
USC’s interior defense with Evan and Isaiah Mobley is absolutely lethal and could neutralize David McCormack in the middle. Kansas is going to have to have a good shooting day to get by the underrated Trojans.

Iowa/Oregon
This could wind up being the best game in the Round of 32. Both teams play with great pace and have capable shotmakers. If Oregon’s length and athleticism distorts Iowa’s offensive rhythm, the Ducks could be in business.

Michigan/LSU
Michigan is the most vulnerable of the number one seeds. LSU has three elite players in Javonte Smart, Cam Thomas, and Trendon Watford. Expect this one to come down to the final possession.

Florida State/Colorado
The Pac-12 is proving that it’s an underrated conference. Colorado is proving that it’s an underrated team. If Florida State isn’t sharp — and it hasn’t been sharp in weeks — the Buffaloes will advance to the second weekend.

UCLA/Abilene Christian
Abilene Christian goes after loose balls like a flock of seagulls going after a ham sandwich on a beach. If the Bruins aren’t poised against pressure, things could get ugly quickly. Tyger Campbell is an X-Factor for UCLA.

Alabama/Maryland
Maryland wasn’t supposed to be here. Alabama was. The faster the pace of this game, the greater the chance that the Crimson Tide win by double figures.

Leftovers:

  • Florida, Miami finalizing agreement to meet this season in Jacksonville
  • CBS Sports Podcast (6/16) — Minnesota’s Niko Medved
  • Dayton, Florida State to begin home-and-home series
  • Florida/TCU, Wisconsin/Providence to headline 2025 Rady Children’s Invitational
  • Texas A&M, Florida State to start neutral site series in Tampa
