BYU may be headed for the Big 12 in a few years, but Mark Pope doesn’t believe that a new conference affiliation is going to change the Cougars’ goals as a basketball program.
“Our goals are always the same regardless of conference,” Pope said this week on the College Hoops Today Podcast. “The goal is to win and be a Top-25 team each and every season.”
BYU is a combined 44-15 in two years under Pope and earned a six seed in last season’s NCAA Tournament.
The Cougars — along with Houston, Cincinnati, and UCF — are slated to join the Big 12 for the 2023-24 season.
BYU is again expected to be the WCC’s top challenger to Gonzaga during the upcoming year.
