Kyle Smith isn’t running from expectations.
He knows that Washington State returns four starters from a team that finished 14-13 last season and lost five games by five points or less.
Could this team be the best group that Smith has ever coached?
“On paper it certainly should be,” Smith said on this week’s edition of the College Hoops Today Podcast. “In the next 12-to-18 months, we should make a big jump.”
Smith led Columbia and San Francisco to multiple 20-win seasons, but has never taken a team to the NCAA Tournament during his head coaching career.
The Cougars are widely viewed in the industry as a dark horse NCAA Tournament team in 2022.
