Villanova hasn’t played a game since Dec. 23rd, but its point guard still gives opposing coaches uneasy feelings.
Especially if those coaches are preparing to play the Wildcats on Tuesday in their first game back from a lengthy pause due to COVID-19.
“It all starts and ends with Collin Gillespie,” Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard said Monday on the College Hoops Today Podcast when he was asked about Tuesday’s matchup with Villanova. “I think one of the reasons that Villanova is so tough to beat is that Gillespie never gets rattled. He’s a stone cold killer.”
A 6-3 senior, Gillespie has just one turnover in his last 95 minutes and is averaging 15.3 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.9 rebounds.
Villanova was ranked third in this week’s ROTHSTEIN 45 while Seton Hall was ranked 37th.
