Andre Curbelo doesn’t operate well in the shadows.
Illinois’ freshman point guard is made for big stages and bright lights, something he showed last week with Ayo Dosunmu out of the lineup. In back-to-back games against Nebraska and Wisconsin, the 6-1 floor general averaged 13.5 points, 4.5 assists, and 9.5 rebounds.
“He’s an alpha,” Illinois coach Brad Underwood said of Curbelo Monday on the College Hoops Today Podcast. “That’s his personality. He thrives on being ‘the guy’.”
