My passion to write about college basketball is insatiable. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. For a long time, it was all I’d ever done. I started as a writer and still remember my first byline. Somewhere along the way, other forums came to the forefront. There was radio. There was television. But writing was always the backbone. In 2016, I felt a change in the way sports media was headed. In 2018, I felt a change in the way that writing in sports media was being valued. The world today is much different than it was in the past. That’s the way life goes. Things evolve and they never stay the same. The key is adapting. The key is being able to thrive in different settings. That’s why there’s television, radio, podcasts, digital videos, Twitter, Instagram, and much more. But there’s always going to be a room for writing. I never wanted to be told that I couldn’t write about college basketball every day if I wanted to. Now I’ll never have that problem again. This is why I’m launching www.collegehoopstoday.net
For those of you who are familiar with my work, you know that’s the name of the podcast I’ve hosted for Compass Media since 2015. Archives from that podcast will also be available on this website. There will also be a page dedicated to t-shirts with some of your favorite Twitter sayings, with a portion of the proceeds going to a great charity in Mission Continues.
I felt it was necessary to have a hub to bring everything together in one place. I’ve worked for CBS Sports for 12 years. I’ve done a podcast now for close to eight years. I’ve also signed an exclusive agreement to be a content creator for FanDuel. All of those assignments are designed to bring followers of college basketball the best possible coverage they can get every single day.
But I’m a writer and that’s not ever going to change.
This website will feature regular news and notes columns on college basketball. The world is changing. This business has changed. My passion to write about college basketball has not. In fact, it’s burning inside of me.
Thanks for reading.
