On the eve of the 21-22 college basketball season, Tom Izzo sent a message that Michigan State’s potential star of the future could very well be a star in the present.
“I think we have a potential star in the making in Max Christie,” Izzo said Monday on the College Hoops Today Podcast. “He’s played very well in practice and he played very well in our exhibition games. He came in as a five-star recruit and if you ask me, he’s gotten much better since he’s gotten here. He’s become a better defender, a better rebounder. I think he’s going to keep growing.”
The 6-6 Christie averaged 15.5 points in the Spartans’ two exhibition games.
Michigan State will open the 21-22 season against Kansas on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden in the Champions Classic.
The Spartans are currently ranked 28th in the ROTHSTEIN 45.
