Illinois may finally have a home court advantage against UConn
Two years ago when these two teams played in the Elite Eight, the Huskies’ rabid fan base swarmed Boston and turned TD Garden into an extension of Gampel Pavilion. Earlier this season on the day after Thanksgiving at MSG, UConn again owned the crowd when these two teams went head-to-head at the World’s Most Famous Arena. That won’t happen again on Saturday. Remember: Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is just 125 miles from Champaign.
Trey McKenney is Michigan’s unsung presence
How do you hide a 6-4 freshman that can pass, dribble, and shoot? I’m not sure how the Wolverines have done it either. In four games during March Madness, McKenney is averaging an impressive 11.8 points off the bench while shooting 62.5 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from three-point range. Those are ridiculously impressive numbers and another reason why many people consider Michigan the favorite to win the national title this week in Indianapolis.
Flory Bidunga hits the open market
Kansas’ star big man will reportedly once again puts his name into the transfer portal and also go through the NBA Draft process. The 6-10 Bidunga did the same thing a year ago before ultimately returning to the Jayhawks for his sophomore season. All options are indeed on the table for this southpaw, who averaged 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks this past year in Lawrence. Bidunga will be in high demand over the next few months if he does indeed play college basketball in 2026-27.
